MERGE HEALTHCARE TO SHOWCASE NEWEST RIS/PACS, CLINICAL APPLICATIONS AND ADVANCED VISUALIZATION SOLUTIONS AT SIIM 2007
Advanced Fusion RIS/PACS MX™ represents highly optimized radiologist workspace
Clinical applications speed workflow and reinforce diagnostic capabilities
Milwaukee, WI, June 4, 2007 –Merge Healthcare (NASDAQ: MRGE; TSX: MRG), a leading medical imaging software and services provider, will showcase its recently released Fusion RIS/PACS MX imaging and information management solution at Booth #1317 at the annual meeting for the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM), June 7-10 in Providence, RI. Fusion RIS/PACS MX is a single workflow application that is relevant to the entire spectrum of clinical and business needs for imaging centers, hospitals, physician practices and specialty clinics.
Merge Healthcare unveiled Fusion RIS/PACS MX in April 2007 as an imaging informatics solution that moves beyond simple interfacing of RIS and PACS applications. Fusion RIS/PACS MX combines the advantages of a RIS and a PACS into a single business and clinical application with a uniquely optimized radiologist workspace environment. Through the Patient Master Jacket, this solution provides single-desktop access to all information and advanced tools required for reading and reporting on an exam. With exam-driven workflow and a single source of access to all patient information (including RIS data), incidences of duplicate and missing data are greatly reduced. Customizable, intuitive worklists and embedded tools, such as document management and dictation, enhance every user’s productivity and help imaging businesses reduce report turnaround times.
In addition to Fusion RIS/PACS MX, Merge Healthcare will showcase standalone Fusion RIS MX™ and Fusion PACS MX™.
- Fusion RIS MX : A Radiology Information System (RIS) that streamlines and integrates information workflow, and automates traditional manual or paper methods related to scheduling, patient registration and tracking, document management and other mission-critical operational functions in a practice. Fusion RIS MX reduces administrative tasks, provides faster report turnaround, improves cash flow for the practice, and increases satisfaction of patients, referring physicians and employees.
- Fusion PACS MX : Fusion PACS MX is changing the way radiology images and image-related data are managed. MX incorporates a powerful new platform based on smart client technologies, an effortless user interface, and dynamic peer-to-peer communication tools – delivering a new level of efficiency and performance to radiologists, clinicians, and referring physicians. The Fusion PACS MX solution builds upon a robust user interface and incorporates storage applications to improve workflow.
Merge Healthcare also will feature specialty clinical applications including:
- Merge Mammo™ version 7.0 : This multi-modality, vendor-neutral digital mammography workstation application enables display and reading of images from different systems simultaneously (digital mammography, ultrasound, MR, CR, etc.), and reading of all breast studies on a single workstation, regardless of which vendor’s acquisition device obtains the images. Automation and customization features enable radiologists to read with the same throughput as hardcopy.
- Merge PET/CT™ : This vendor-neutral workstation optimizes clinical effectiveness and maximizes workflow efficiency with easy-to-use controls for advanced PET/CT reading and streamlined reporting. Merge PET/CT incorporates reading tools such as 3D volume rendering and hot-spot scout, and reporting tools such as SUV (Standard Uptake Value) calculations and configurable colormaps. Workflow is enhanced with PACS-like layouts split across dual monitors in panoramic mode, allowing simultaneous review of CT, PET Corrected, PET Uncorrected, PET/CT Fused and MIP images. Rigid registration between images allows simultaneous navigation through all data sets.
- Merge Ortho™ : This digital workstation solution helps orthopaedic specialists save time and improve clinical effectiveness in orthopaedic planning and diagnosis, including joint arthroplasty, trauma, and deformity corrections. D igital tools streamline workflow with image acquisition and manipulation (2D and 3D), advanced measurement options, implant selection, template placement and manipulation, surgical planning tools, image archiving, Web distribution and data mining. Merge Ortho™ includes libraries of digital orthopaedic templates from major prosthesis vendors.
“Attendees at SIIM 2007 will see the results of our efforts to collaborate with customers in defining the next generation of medical imaging software,” said Gary Bowers, President of Merge Healthcare North America. “We are pleased of our ongoing efforts with customers to refine existing products and create novel, relevant solutions that address the urgent clinical and business needs of today’s imaging centers. A great example of that is our ROI, Return on Investment tool, which is designed to provide imaging centers with comprehensive details on their operational efficiency and how Merge Healthcare solutions can improve our customers’ productivity and profitability.”
