Attention: Business/Financial Editors:
CEDARA SOFTWARE TO DEBUT NEW SOLUTIONS FOR INTEGRATED IMAGING
WORKFLOW AT THE 2006 RSNA CONFERENCE
- Cedara to demonstrate its new C4 integration platform, a system that allows
OEM companies to tightly integrate clinical applications into their existing
solutions
- Through a single integration effort, C4 allows companies to support diverse
functionality for their customers including breast imaging, PET/CT, orthopaedic
planning, virtual colonoscopy, calcium scoring, oncology therapy response,
lung nodule analysis and more
- Solutions contribute to Cedara’s range of products and services for rapid
application development in the healthcare space
Toronto, ON, November 15, 2006 – Cedara Software, a Merge Healthcare company (Nasdaq:
MRGE; TSX: MRG) and a leading independent developer of medical software technologies for the global healthcare market, today announced plans to introduce new solutions for integrated imaging workflow at the 2006 RSNA conference held November 26 – 30 in Chicago, Illinois.
With the increasing prevalence of multiple PACS installations, clinical applications and information systems used at a single healthcare institution, the need for integration has never been greater. At RSNA 2006, Cedara Software will showcase a variety of new technologies for OEM/VARs designed to further unite image and information management in the healthcare industry. In this rapidly changing landscape, Cedara’s solutions provide a fast, efficient and cost effective means to introduce new technology to the marketplace.
At the forefront of Cedara’s approach to integrated image and information management is a new development platform, named C4 (Cedara Clinical Control Center™*). C4 is an innovative platform that allows clinical applications and plug-ins to be tightly integrated into a single workstation, sharing system resources. Operating through a single patient study list, each clinical application can be launched manually or automatically based on user preferences. While C4 can be used to quickly integrate clinical applications into any information system, it will be demonstrated at RSNA with Cedara’s web enabled PACS system Cedara I-Reach™, a diagnostic information system Cedara aXigate™, and in a standalone capacity.
Clinical needs addressed via C4 currently include breast imaging, PET/CT imaging, orthopaedic planning, virtual colonoscopy, calcium scoring, oncology therapy response and lung nodule analysis. These capabilities are supported by Cedara’s clinical applications Cedara IReadMammo™, Cedara PET/CT Workstation, Cedara OrthoWorks ProPlanner™*, Cedara OrthoWorks Spine Analyzer™, Cedara IlumiView™, Cedara CalScore®, Cedara I-Response™*, Cedara PrimeLung™ and more. It is anticipated that additional clinical applications will be available through C4 in the future.
"C4 promises to set a new standard for integration and ease-of-use for clinical applications in the healthcare industry,” said Ken Rardin, President of Cedara Software and CEO of Merge Healthcare. “For many vendors, engineering costs and time-to-market have a significant impact on their decision to develop applications that address specialists’ needs; using C4, these applications can be quickly added to existing PACS, RIS and EMR solutions to support a more a comprehensive workflow in a fast and cost effective manner."
To support rapid application development, Cedara will also demonstrate a variety of solutions that have been built using the Cedara OpenEyes development platform. Cedara OpenEyes sets a new industry standard for rapid application development. Including all of the essential imaging functionality for high-level viewing solutions such as volume rendering in 3D, OpenEyes’ programming model represents a paradigm shift from previous technologies, completely insulating clients from the complexities of deep code development by providing a single uniform set of controls and development interfaces. OpenEyes packages connectivity, visualization and printing services in a flexible and transparent architecture that can be deployed across a wide spectrum of application environments-- from small "one-off" projects to complex web solution services. Cedara OpenEyes is available to OEM organizations interested in accelerating their time to market.
Cedara’s offerings at RSNA will include a wide range of solutions for including image enhancement for modality manufacturers, segmentation solutions, deformable registration, tumour contouring, connectivity products, image stitching, CAD, RIS/PACS, automatic measurements, 3D, tools for integrated diagnostic information and more.
"Today’s need for service capabilities that stretch across the entire healthcare enterprise, put significant pressure on companies that have traditionally played in niche markets," continued Rardin. "Cedara is in a very unique position to help medical technology companies broaden their market reach and accelerate their time-to-market. From our development platforms and toolkits to complete applications that can be private labeled and seamlessly operate within\ another host, Cedara has a large range of products for the OEM community. Cedara’s long history and experience with custom engineering services also provide a cost effective means to ramp up product development and provide additional support for internal resources. Any company interested in seeing Cedara’s next generation solutions should visit our booth at RSNA."
Cedara Software will be located at booth 4716, Hall A (South Hall) at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois during the annual meeting of the Radiology Society of North America (RSNA) held November 26 - 30, 2006.
*Some of the capabilities mentioned above represent works-in-progress.
